Blabby (BlabbyAI) is a speech to text app for Android that adds a small floating microphone to any text field. You talk, Blabby transcribes with OpenAI’s Whisper large v3 turbo, adds punctuation, and types the result straight into the app you’re using.
It works on top of the keyboard you already have. Gboard, Samsung Keyboard and SwiftKey stay exactly as they are, and the mic only shows up when a text field is focused.
On top of plain dictation, Blabby has modes: short AI instructions that rewrite what you said. Say a rough message and get a clean email, an English version of what you said in Spanish, or text without the ums.

Turning on Blabby takes three steps, and the app walks you through each one with a short practice round first.
Free download. Sign in with your Google account and pick the languages you speak. No card needed.
Android only lets an app type into other apps through Accessibility settings. Blabby opens the right screen, and a short video floats on top to show you where to tap.
Tap a text box in any app and the Blabby mic appears beside it. Tap, talk, tap stop, and your words land in the field.
Lisbon, day two
Took the 28 tram up to Graça early, before the crowds. The viewpoint at Senhora do Monte was worth the climb.
Lunch at the little place behind the castle. Best grilled sardines of the trip so far.
The mic works like the voice note button you already know, except the result is text you can read before you send it.
Tap the mic, say as much as you need, then tap stop. Good for longer replies and notes, and you can drag the toolbar out of the way while you talk.
Press and hold, speak, let go. Blabby sends the recording the moment you release, so a quick reply takes one motion.
Changed your mind mid-sentence? While holding, slide toward the trash. The recording is thrown away and nothing is typed.
Drag the mic to either screen edge and it stays there
Never appears in password fields
Works with the keyboard hidden
A mode is a short instruction Blabby applies to what you say. Open the side bar, tap a mode and talk: Blabby writes the result into the field.
Cleanup
Removes ums, false starts and repeated words, and keeps your meaning.
Adds the greeting, paragraph breaks and sign-off to what you said.
Translate
Speak in your own language and send it in English.
Your own
Write any instruction: bullet points, a friendlier tone, your standup format, or “new paragraph” as a spoken command.
Hi John,
Could you please send me the Q3 report by Friday?
Thanks,
Alex
Save the text you type again and again, like your email address or the way you sign off, and give it a short phrase. Say the phrase while you talk, and Blabby types the saved text in its place.
“my email address”

“my sign off”
Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Set a snippet up once and it works in every app, whatever the capitalization.
Built for the messages, emails and notes you’d rather not thumb-type.
Powered by OpenAI's Whisper v3 Turbo. It handles accents and fast speech, and adds periods, commas and question marks for you.
Speak any of 90+ languages. Pick the ones you use and Blabby detects which one you're speaking.
Teach Blabby a name, a brand or your team's jargon once, like "Siobhan" or "Kubernetes", and it's spelled right every time.
Say "my address" and get your full address. Snippets swap a phrase you say for text you've saved.
Blabby types straight into the field. Your keyboard, its layout and its autocorrect stay exactly as they are.
Text already in a field never leaves your phone. Recordings are deleted after each take, and transcription runs with zero data retention.
The same mic shows up everywhere, so there’s nothing to set up per app.
Tap the message box, tap the Blabby mic and say your reply. It’s typed into the box with punctuation, so you can read it before you hit send. The other person gets text they can skim instead of a voice note they have to play.
Google Docs’ own voice typing tool only works in Chrome on a computer. On your phone, tap into any doc and dictate whole paragraphs with Blabby, then run Cleanup to tidy them. More in our guide to speech to text in Google Docs.
Say what you want to tell them, in your own words. Email mode adds the greeting, breaks it into paragraphs and signs it off, so a reply from the train reads like one from your desk.
Blabby works on Galaxy phones running Android 10 or later, right alongside Samsung Keyboard. Keep Samsung’s keyboard for typing and use Blabby’s mic when you’d rather talk.
Your phone already has a mic on the keyboard. Here’s what Blabby adds on top of it.
| Tool | Where it works | Keyboard | Rewrites with your own AI instructions | Speech model | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blabby | Any app with a text field | Keep the one you have | Yes. Cleanup, Email, Translate and your own modes | OpenAI Whisper large v3 turbo | Free during the beta |
| Gboard voice typing | Any app, while Gboard is your keyboard | Gboard only | No | Google speech recognition | Free |
| Samsung voice input | Any app, while Samsung Keyboard is active | Samsung Keyboard only | No | Samsung speech engine | Free |
Happy with Gboard or Samsung Keyboard? Keep it. Blabby runs alongside either one.
This is the first release of Blabby for Android, and it’s free to use while it’s in beta. No card needed.

Dictate on your phone in the morning and at your desk in the afternoon.
Press Ctrl + Space in any Windows app, talk, and Blabby types where your cursor is. History keeps every recording on your PC, so nothing you say is ever lost.
A mic next to every text field in Chrome, on Mac, Windows and Chromebook. The same modes and spellings, with nothing to install outside the browser.
Every Android keyboard has a mic key you can tap to dictate. For automatic punctuation, AI rewriting and the same mic in every app, install Blabby from Google Play, sign in with Google, turn Blabby on in Accessibility settings, then tap the floating mic in any text field and talk.
For quick texts, the mic in Gboard or Samsung Keyboard is enough. For longer messages, emails and notes, Blabby adds Whisper large v3 turbo accuracy, automatic punctuation and AI modes that rewrite your words, and it works in every app without changing your keyboard. It is free while the Android app is in beta.
Yes. Blabby for Android is in beta, and it is free to download and free to use while the beta runs. No card is needed.
No. Blabby is a floating microphone, not a keyboard. Gboard, Samsung Keyboard, SwiftKey or whatever you use stays exactly as it is, and Blabby types into the field directly.
Android lets an app type into other apps only through an Accessibility service. Blabby uses it to see which text field is focused and to insert your words there. The text already in the field stays on your phone; only your recording is sent for transcription.
Both are free and handle short messages well. Samsung voice input lives in Samsung Keyboard and Google voice typing lives in Gboard, so each only works while that keyboard is active. If you want AI cleanup, email formatting or translation on top of either one, Blabby runs alongside both.
Yes. Tap the WhatsApp message box, tap Blabby's mic and say your message. Blabby types it into the box with punctuation so you can read it before you send it.
Yes. Google Docs voice typing is a desktop Chrome feature, but on Android you can tap into any doc and dictate with Blabby's mic. Full sentences arrive punctuated, and Cleanup mode removes filler words.
Yes. Blabby does the same job on Android: speak in any app and get clean text. Its modes are instructions you write yourself, it keeps the keyboard you already use, and it is free while the Android app is in beta.
Any phone running Android 10 or later, including Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Motorola devices.
Up to five minutes per recording. Most people dictate a message or a paragraph at a time and start a new recording for the next one.
